Connect One-on-One with a New Friend
Sponsorship connects two people across geographical, economic, and social boundaries, fostering a unique relationship based on listening, encouragement, and mutual respect.
Sponsor a Child
How Your Sponsorship Helps
Self-Directed Support
The child’s family determines their most pressing needs and decides how to use the financial support, which must be directly related to education and essential needs such as food, housing, and medical care.
Our team of social workers and psychologists meets with them to listen, guide, and identify how Fundación Javier Arrieta can best support them in achieving their goals.
Encouragement
Child sponsorship provides a platform for two people to build trust, share experiences, and learn from each other. Over time, a special bond can develop as a sponsor and their sponsored friend walk together and make a positive impact on each other’s lives.
Community
The child’s family becomes part of the Fundación Javier Arrieta community, gaining access to various benefits and programs. Mothers and caregivers of sponsored children and youth join small Family Support Groups, often becoming leaders by serving their own communities.
Sponsor an Elder
How Your Sponsorship Helps
Basic Needs
Sponsorship provides ongoing support for elders living in vulnerable situations through direct financial assistance or other resources to cover essential needs such as nutrition, medical care, and housing.
Companionship
Too often, elders face isolation, neglect, and underestimation. We celebrate the invaluable wisdom, joy, and courage they bring to the community. Many sponsored elders benefit from our community dining program, recreational activities, and visits from our psychosocial team, all of which promote well-being and social connection.
Hope
Letters and photos exchanged between sponsors and their sponsored friends help strengthen their relationship, providing encouragement to both. Sponsored elders in Fundación Javier Arrieta age with dignity and honor, knowing they have friends and people who care for them.
How It Works
- A sponsor chooses a friend and commits to joining them on their journey.
- A personal one-on-one relationship develops through letters and photos.
- The sponsor provides financial support that helps their friend and family build a path out of poverty.
- The sponsored friend and their family become part of a comprehensive support network alongside other sponsored members.

51% of households experiencing multidimensional poverty in Chile are led by women.(Casen, 2022)
At Fundación Javier Arrieta, over 99% of caregivers for children and youth in our programs are women. This highlights the vulnerability of this group, as they often face overwhelming responsibilities and a lack of support.
Our Family Support Groups bring together the caregivers of children and youth in our programs. We hold regular meetings to help them build strong support networks with other beneficiary families while providing workshops and activities that strengthen their autonomy and independence.
How the Program Helps
Support Networks
Caregivers connect with one another, share experiences, exchange advice, and receive emotional support, helping them build resilience in their daily challenges.
Workshops & Activities
We offer tailored workshops and training sessions based on the needs of each group, empowering women to develop new skills and strengthen their self-confidence.
Autonomy & Independence
By fostering self-sufficiency, we provide caregivers with the tools to improve their job opportunities and reduce financial dependence on family members or government aid.
Our Impact
Family Support Groups
In Chile, 28.8% of students drop out during their first year of higher education.
Chilean law provides free tuition for higher education, making it one of the most significant financial aid policies in the past 20 years. However, dropout rates remain high, showing that financial assistance alone is not enough. Students face additional challenges that prevent them from completing their degrees.
At Fundación Javier Arrieta, we believe that every student deserves the chance to complete their education. Our Scholarship Program supports low-income college students, ensuring they stay in school and have better opportunities to overcome poverty.
How the Program Helps
Financial Support
An annual scholarship helps cover essential expenses such as transportation, housing, and study materials.
Community Service
Scholarship recipients develop service projects based on their skills and interests, allowing them to connect with the community through meaningful experiences.
Life Skills Development
We provide training, workshops, and mentorship opportunities to equip students with personal and professional skills that will help them succeed in any field.
Our Impact
Help Vulnerable Students Stay in School
For many students, the Fundación Javier Arrieta Scholarship Program can be the difference between staying in school or dropping out due to challenges such as:
✔ Long distances and high housing costs for students from rural areas who need to relocate.
✔ Limited income opportunities to cover school-related expenses.
✔ Family pressure to drop out and contribute financially instead of continuing their education.

At Fundación Javier Arrieta, we believe that no elder should face hunger or loneliness. Our Community Dining Program provides nutritious meals in a warm, welcoming space where elders can connect, share, and thrive.
How Our Program Makes a Difference
Nutritious Meals
We provide healthy, balanced lunches Monday through Friday, ensuring that elders have a reliable source of food while helping them stretch their limited pensions.

A Supportive Community
For many elders, our dining program is more than just a meal—it’s a place to belong. They can socialize, make friends, and receive visits from volunteers, reducing feelings of isolation and loneliness.
Wellness & Engagement
We keep elders active with craft workshops, light exercise, mental stimulation activities, and literacy classes, all designed to enhance their well-being and quality of life.
